Why walls fail here

A wall on a hill is mostly what you can’t see.

Freeze, thaw and runoff push a wall out from behind.

Drainage is the part that holds it, so it gets built first.

  • 05Backfill compacted in lifts, then graded to shed water

Do you give free estimates?

Yes. Call or send the form and we will come out and look at the property. There is no charge for the visit and no obligation afterwards.

Do you do both the building and the upkeep?

Yes, and most of our customers use us for both. We build a wall, a patio or a set of beds, then keep the property mowed, mulched and cleaned up through the year.

How soon can you start?

It depends on the season and the size of the job. Call and we will tell you honestly where you sit in the schedule rather than guess at a date.

Do you plow in winter?

We do. Driveways and walks for homes and small commercial properties around Ithaca. Ask before the first storm, because seasonal customers are the route.

Can you fix a wall that is already leaning?

Often, yes. Most failing walls here have a drainage problem behind them rather than a stone problem. We will look and tell you whether it needs a repair or a rebuild.

Do you work on steep or wet lots?

That is most of Ithaca. Benching into the slope, drainage stone and properly compacted backfill are how a grade gets handled.
